Contemplating Complaining

God tells us to serve enthusiastically in all we do as if we were serving God himself. Where does this leave room for complaining? What about taking for granted the fact that all reading this are a minimum of 95% richer than the rest of the world? Jobs seem mundane, household chores seem mundane, and therefore we justify complaints, whining, bad attitude and more as an acceptable response to these things. If you didn’t have a house to clean would you be able to find the blessings in your life from God still? I know many answer yes, but can’t understand the blessings they have now in abundance. How can we be blessed in spirit through all we do, if we don’t even consider simple “necessary” things a blessing? Women in the bible were your typical women as those who exist today, yet they praised God for the blessings they had, the chores they did, and served with a grateful heart. Most of us who are abundantly blessed have worked hard in life to afford the things we decided we needed or wanted enough to sacrifice for, yet we can’t find even the smallest value in appreciating them when it comes time to serve our family & God by taking care of them. We choose our responses, we choose our attitudes. Some may try to argue that if the poor had more they would complain too. I disagree. I think when you have lost everything or had nothing to begin with, you understand the value of being able to have even the slightest bit more and are truly and sincerely thankful for those new blessings. If a tornado hit and all was lost, you would be happy to be alive. Would you also be happy as your life was brought back to a much more normal state? Yes. You would all of the sudden love having a home to call yours again, or things to clean, or clothes to wear that make you feel “human” again. It shouldn’t take a great tragedy to understand then why God wants us to be enthusiastic in all we do.
Another thought on this is God has asked us to be fruitful with what has been given to us, because whether a lot or a little if we prove we are trustworthy of what has been given us, he will know he can trust us with more. Now, this probably hurts some hearts reading it as it seems too farfetched to truly be lived out. For some it will bring anger, which would create a “yeah right you believe this or live it” response. My house is not perfectly cleaned. I miss the days I had when I could do so much with my time as to keep the household running well in cleaning, activities, and more. Now when I go to do any work I can only do limited time intervals or I risk being in agonizing pain for at least 3 days to follow. I would love to clean like I used to again, and to enjoy a less chaotic cluttered home. So when I do what I can I enjoy it thoroughly. God’s burden is light, not heavy. Though this may weigh heavy on the heart, re-learning thankfulness in even “mundane” things will not leave you feeling bogged down or like it is unbearable.
